  • CMD RETURNCOPY

PROBLEM

I paste a lot of screenshots into chats and AI coding assistants, and I wanted to mark them up and attach a note in one step.

BUILD

Swift, SwiftUI and AppKit. Captures run through the system screencapture tool and land on the clipboard or in a chosen folder. The optional editor has select, rectangle, arrow and text tools with undo, and a canvas that can grow past the capture. A description is rendered into the image, so the context survives the paste.

STATUS

Working personal utility, version 1.0, built from source. The annotation editor was added August 26, 2026. Not distributed through the App Store.

STACK

  • Swift 5
  • SwiftUI
  • AppKit
  • Combine
  • macOS screencapture

KEYNOTES · BUILD NOTES

  1. About 1,114 lines of Swift across 8 files.
  2. The annotation editor (about 894 lines) was built with an AI coding assistant.
  3. Keyboard tools: V select, R rectangle, A arrow, T text. Cmd-Return copies the result.
